NEWSWAVE - Episode 26
Join our reporter Tom Howe for NEWSWAVE, your weekly rundown of the top stories happening across St Austell and surrounding areas.
In the latest episode, we join Bethany Lyne, Project Director of Open Studios Cornwall, to explore a celebration of Cornish creativity that sees hundreds of artists and makers open their studios to the public.
We check in with award-winning Cornish singer-songwriter Will Keating to discuss the launch of his long-awaited second album 'A Remembered Walk'. Will handpicked some of the county's finest musicians to join him on the album, which is a mixture of traditional, original and contemporary songs that celebrate Cornwall's rich history and heritage.
As well as that, we take a trip to The Old Custom House in Padstow to join employees of St Austell Brewery, who have raised over £9,000 by completing a 12-mile sponsored walk through the heart of Cornwall, with proceeds donated towards the installation of defibrillators in 55 of their pubs across the South West.
From there, we travel along the North Cornish coast to meet a husband-and-wife duo from St Blazey Gate as they conclude an epic year-long journey walking the entire coastline of mainland Britain, an undertaking that has seen £15,000 raised for charities that include the RNLI, Cornwall Air Ambulance and Mind.
If all that wasn’t enough, we sit down with some recipients of the brand new Young & Talented Cornwall Spirit of Trevithick Award, which supports Cornwall’s brightest young minds - in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics - to kick-start their careers.
